Tour Capernaum
the Center of Jesus' Galilee Ministry

Capernaum will be a highlight of your Galilee tour, because this is the city whose inhabitants first saw the miracles and heard the teachings of Jesus that you have read about your whole life. And in visiting Capernaum, you'll experience the joy of walking in Jesus' footsteps.

You'll tour the magnificent colonnaded synagogue, which stands right over the spot where Jesus preached on the Sabbath and cast out demons (Mark 1:21-29). When you Tour Capernaum, you will remember Jesus' tender words when he healed the daughter of Jairus, the leader of that synagogue: "get up, little lamb" (Mark 5:41). This was the synagogue built by the Roman centurion, whose great faith Jesus recognized and whose servant he healed (Matt. 8:5-13).

You'll pause at the ruins of the great church built around Peter's house, where Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law (Luke 4:38-39). Perhaps it was at her door that "the whole town gathered" (Mark 1:31), bringing Jesus the sick and the demon-possessed. While visiting Capernaum, called Kfar Nahum in Hebrew, you'll never forget that feeling of opening your Bible, here among the ruins and realizing that you are in the very place where Jesus said: "And you Capernaum, will you be lifted to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths" (Matt. 11:23).
